ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CLUB

Atlethico Union Track Club was established on June 4, 2007. The club has only three Athletes Jaques Harvey Alex Graham and Sancia Samuels when it originally started and as grown tremendously having twenty six athletes presently under its umbrella.

 

OUR MISSION:

Our mission is to help athletes reach their maximum athletic and fitness potential while instilling discipline, respect, and motivation toward personal achievement. We also aim to create a well balanced individual through mental and physical training and will accomplish this by teaching the importance of athleticism and competition in daily life.

 

OUR GOAL:

The goal of our program is to provide athletes with the coaching/training they need to become well rounded individuals and world class athletes.

 

OBJECTIVES:
• To produce athletes performing at world-class standards
• Provide good training facilities
• Provide proper medical and physiotherapy support for athletes
Ensure proper nutrition for athletes
• Provide guidance to athletes for total personal development and life after Track and Field
• Seek funding through sponsorship and other fund-raising activities
• Establish and maintain an office for the club
• Plan programme for community involvement
• Implement a comprehensive brand building programme including a marketing plan for the club.


 
COACH’S PROFILE



 

Coach Mr. Garth Smythe was a two times CARIFTA Representative, two times Medalist when he attended Rusea’s high School. Garth Smythe left Rusea's and went to the Nor land Junior and Senior High school, then transferred to Miami Dade Community College on a part time Scholarship he later received a full Scholarship to North Carolina Central University. After graduating he went on to do his under studies with a high profile coach, he later became the lead assistant at the West Chester and Norland high School. He came to Jamaica and was offered the Head Coach for Rusesa’s High for one season where they made marvelous improvement. After leaving  the Rusea’s High School he found a way to help young athletes so he formed the Atlethico Union Track Club. Since the establishment of the club Smythe has gotten the chance to coach many athletes such as. World C.A.C 200M Champion Xaiver Brown who recorded a personal best in the 200m, many times CARIFTA Medalist Rose-Ann Jones, Rayon Reid, 2008- 2009 National under 23 Representative, Davian Clarke, Jason Wilson Silver Medalist at Western Championship and Andrew Fisher Milo Grand Prix Runner up and National Boys and Girls Championship Finalist.
